2백만 개의 미확인 지뢰가 한반도의 비무장지대에 매설되어 있으며 그 매설 밀집도는 세계에서 가장 높다. DMZ의 지뢰들을 모두 제거하는 데는 489년이 소요된다고 하며 가령 남북이 통일을 이룬다고 하더라도, 지뢰는 비무장지대의 출입을 오랜 시간 불가능하게 만드는 원인이 될 것이다.
껌은 인간의 입에서 발사되어 거리에 흩뿌려진다. 모순되게도, 그것은 거리에 심기 쉽지만 제거하기 어렵다. 그리고 그것은 작지만 밟게 되면 인간의 움직임을 크게 제한시킨다. 지뢰와 같은 인간의 근시안적이며 이기적인 결과물은 우리 주변에서 또 다른 형태로 발생하고 있다.
DMZ에서 가장 문제가 되는 살상 무기인 M14 대인 지뢰를 1:1 스케일의 껌으로 제작하였다. 일명 ‘발목지뢰’라고 불리는 M14 지뢰는 싼 가격에 대량으로 생산되는 껌처럼, 최소한의 위력과 비용으로 다수의 피해자를 영구적으로 전투에서 제외한다. 50명이 1개의 M14 풍선껌을 씹을 수 있으며, 거리에 50개의 껌 자국을 심을 수 있는 위력을 가지고 있다. 그리고 이것은 포도 맛이다.

Two million unexploded landmines are buried in the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), making it the most landmine-dense area in the world. It is estimated that removing all of them would take 489 years, and even if reunification between North and South Korea were to occur, landmines would remain a long-term obstacle to accessing the DMZ.
Gum is fired from a human mouth and scattered across the street. Ironically, it is easy to plant but difficult to remove. Though small, it severely restricts movement when stepped on. The short-sighted and selfish results of human actions, such as landmines, continue to appear in various forms around us.
The M14 anti-personnel mine, one of the most dangerous weapons in the DMZ, has been recreated as a 1:1 scale gum. The M14, also known as the "ankle mine," is mass-produced cheaply like gum, causing permanent harm to many victims with minimal force and cost. Fifty people can chew one M14 gum, and its effect could leave 50 gum imprints across a street. And it tastes like grape.
